Grace King

Grace has been on the journey of learning to play the piano since she was 6 years old when her father sat her down at the piano to teach her how to play and sing different intervals! Her mother was her first teacher, and she began to study more seriously in high school and college with wonderful local teachers in Bend. She completed the upper-division levels of OMTA Piano Syllabus, and still studies piano knowing there is always something more to learn! She first became a member of Central Oregon OMTA while teaching piano during her college studies at COCC and OSU Cascades, then re-joined later in life.
She takes a customized approach with students, guiding them toward traditional repertoire but adding pop music on the side as the student is interested. She also teaches students how to play from chord symbols and improvise. She has accompanied choirs and soloists, and been an active part of church music teams. Her other musical interests include singing and playing the clarinet. She sang with the Central Oregon Mastersingers choir for 10 years, and loved every minute! Outside of music, you’ll find her hiking, skiing, learning obscure Spanish vocabulary, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
